What is light?

Light has been a source of wonder in thought and feel since the dawn of time, with many layers of understating and interpretation, even our modern scientific understanding partakes in this enigmatic unique phenomena of dual natures, that of its particle like nature, and that of its wave one.

Light is also the medium by which the symbol is conceived and conveyed on a screen.

For most of our history and prehistory, we mostly only saw incandescent light sources, because the light emitted by the stars, the planets, thunder and fire is of the incandescent nature, rarely did we see luminescence. Visible light is defined by its source, and visible light is only produced by two sources, incandescence and luminescence. Incandescence produces photons directly as a result of a material that increasingly rises in frequency until it glows, resulting in a complete spectral emission from start to finish, as defined by classical energy states. Incandescence is also the primordial way by which the universe produces the complete electromagnetic spectrum.

On the other hand, the luminescent mechanism of light production is an indirect process, meaning that light is the result of decreasing energy frequencies, by the transition from high frequencies to lower ones. Involving quantum energy states, not classical, and emitting a narrow and discontinued light spectrum.

This kind of light is produced from the other direction of the electromagnetic spectrum, and while it has some advantages for some uses, it falls short in others. Luminescence can be naturally produced by creatures like the angler fish and fireflies, and artificially by semiconductor light emitting diodes (LEDs), in these components, photons are emitted when an electron falls into a hole, producing blue/UV light, then phosphors absorb this high frequency light and re-emit it as visible light.

Semiconductor light has many useful technological applications, like being able to transmit digital information through its light waves, something impossible for analog light sources of light to do, however, semiconductor’s inherently luminescent nature is second class to our biology, and prolonged exposure to this kind of light from digital screens can provoke optic cell degeneration, causing photochemical reactions potentially leading permanent ocular damage. ¹ It also negatively interferes with the pineal gland, this gland is so intimately stimulated by light that is also known as the third eye.³ It produces neurotransmitters and neuroprotector hormones such as melatonin, serotonin and pinoline.

Incandescent backlight is naturally rich in infrared frequencies, something completely lacking in ordinary screens. An incandescent screen alleviates and regenerates strained sight, because infrared light has many beneficial effects to our biology, such ocular cell regeneration through a process called photobiomodulation, it also reduces inflammation, releases endorphins, and promotes the formation of new blood vessels. SpectrumView monitors work with any operating system and illuminate your pixels with benign light sources from behind, like stained glass, it has a magnetically attachable/detachable electro-incandescent lightbox to choose solar backlight when possible as well, made from first quality prime materials and components, designed to last for a lifetime.

The bulbs required are the same size and wattage for household appliances such as ovens and therefore are not banned in places where these are for space illumination. Incandescent bulbs are very efficient at generating healing broadband infrared frequencies and are made of only glass and metal – no rare earths, and can technically have lifespans of up to 100 years or more when not used at full intensity.

By using only incandescent bulbs to backlight your monitor for the whole day will cost you electricity, but if in winter the thermal energy will be subtracted from your heating bill, and so it will not cost. However, it is recommended to get a solar specific monitor in the same order at half price if you have a sunny window without much shadows and with either direct or indirect sunlight, keeping in mind that having a solar specific monitor means you need you to adapt to the needs of the monitor, and not the other way around, therefore rearranging your space will be necessary.
